It would be interesting to find an HD that is cheap and a decent performer.

Anybody get a 5.9 score with a cheap drive?

Any Western Digital or Seagate with at least 500GB and 7200rpm should give such score, I think. There are disk sales very often. Are you talking about desktop or notebook drive?

' As fer me scores: Well I'm extremely happy with them - especially considering it's my lappy (latop). And considering what I payed for it and how new it is, I'll not have a chance to change them anytime soon - so they're scores I'll need to live with for a time still. Fortunately - right now at least - they are. :)

I also have an SSD, and I did get 5.9 consistently for my 128GB Samsung MLC. In my case, three 5.9's, one 5.8 (gaming gfx), and CPU was 5.7 (T9900 Core 2 Duo 3.06GHz).

I say "was", as I now moved over my last computer to Windows 7 x64 RTM, and it works so well, that I will not run Vista again.

Vista never got a fair shot. I had run it since RC1, then its RTM, and then the final, although RTM pretty much IS the final. I loved Vista, unlike the many idiots who hated it for all the wrong reasons. It's funny to me as an IT person and a lover of anything tech that Windows 7 is so...loved by everyone!? I mean that's a good thing, I just don't understand it.

My Windows 7 scores range from 1.0 to 7.9. My scores are 6.6 CPU; Mrmory: 6.6 gfx score 1: 5.8; graphics score 2: 5.9; SSD: 5.9

I don't think Windows 7 has been calibrated for Solid State Drives yet. ;)
