Solved Windows Module Installer WindowsWcpOtherFailure 3

My computer recently started having this issue when Norton Detected High CPU Usage by Windows Problem Reporting. I looked it up, and this was the issue at hand:

Cbs.log
Cbs.persist.log
SCM.EVM
FilterList.log
memory.hdmp
minidump.mdmp

On the start uo screen it still states: Configuring Updates Stage 3 of 3 and on Shut down: Configuring Updates. It is taking up a lot of my free space to run other programs on the Windows Problem Reporting. And System Restore will not work.

I have tried the following solutions posted on this site:
1. Selective Start Up
2. Micosoft Fix It #50202 Reset Indows Update Component
3. Turning the "Windows Installer" on through Services.
4. Downloading Windows Update Agent.
5. Command Prompt.

Can anyone help me here?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I am curious have you had a blue screen at all, and have you looked to see if you had a mini dump report, we need to know that you don't have a BSOD problem.

Plus please do a full updated Anti_Virus scan using your computer security.

If you don't have then please download a run a full scan using malwarebytes here is the link and use the free version.
Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download

If these come back clean then we can work on your problem

Hello, and welcome to the Vista Forums!

Would you actually mind me grabbing the whole CBS.log? The method by WHS only applies to the SFC section of the log, and to get the useful part of it out, I need the whole log because I also need to look at the non-SFC part. Also, WHS's method manges the log with wordwrap issues, and chops off the top. It is really not an ideal method for me, leaving basically a useless mess.

However, first, please: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/181765-elevated-command-prompt.html

and then type this, followed by enter: fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

However, at the end of the day, to fix the underlying cause, what I need is the whole CBS.log:

Please copy the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder to your Desktop, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload the new file which is created on your Desktop here.

Thanks a lot!

Richard
