Windows Resource Protetion Issue

It happened, because the virus writers do everything possible tomake sure that it cant be removed. That is why as soon as you install make a system image, so that you can resolve and possible problem in the future.

A system image (use the software that I suggested in my earlier thread) is just a picture of your hard drive at a given point in time. If you make one with Macrium, as suggested, you can go back to that point with no reinstall. Everything will be just like it was then.
If you have a Windows Reinstall DVD, use that. To reinstall the OS.

I think the disc I have is windows vista sp1 reinstall. I put it in and it kinda went auto pilot and is doing a startup repair. It didn't let me select any options to install/reinstall. Is that normal? Should I just let it repair before rebooting and then reinstalling, or should I try to log on after it's repaired to see if it even needs the reinstall?

My Computer

If you actually have a Vista SP1 install DVD, let it try the repair. You cant lose anything. If your stuff is backed up, no matter what the Disc does we can always reinstall.

Looks like the repair didn't work. Keeps black screen rebooting. So I'm gonna try safe mode to see if I can extract some of my files.

On start of safe mode for some reason system properties window is already opened.

Is all your stuff saved?

I am currently copying just the necessary files :( as much as I font want to admit it, I am going to lose most of my stuff butthey are things I can replace/refer from ITunes etc. As soon as the copy is complete I will start the reinstallation DVD? Then do I download the image maker thing from that link as soon as I can or am I meant to have it beforehand?

My Computer

First Save your stuff
Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer - How-To Geek
Then if you have the full version of a Vista install DVD (not the upgrade version)
Follow this
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-vista.html
Then you may need the key to activate---activate
Then enjoy for a while.
If you are happy, download the image software. Put the image on an external Hard Drive and forget about it unless you want it updated. Then if needed its there.

I'm not sure if the disk is full version or just upgrade... Never needed to use them before. I don't entirely get how I can save the stuff. Do I require usbs and disks other than the one required for that?

My Computer

Hopeless
If you have a lot of stuff use an external hard drive (this is always the best way)
If you have just a few things a large finger drive will do
Then just download to the drive or finger drive.

If you received your Vista DVD with the computer it is probably the full version.
If you bought it and it does not say upgrade its the full version
Upgrade would have cost you bout 125 or so Full would have cost a lot more.

I saved enough of what I needed. All that will be lost are some videos and bits like that - nothing vital. I squeezed all the bits crucial/important to me onto a 2gb USB stick. Everything else can be restored by just redownloading them to my comp when repaired.

I do have the full version. I asked that while I was running it cause when I looked at the link it came to a step where it didn't resemble any of the screenshots. The installation is almost complete

My Computer

Dont forget after your install
You have to get the SPs
Updates
You have to activate (if not done during install)
Install all your stuff, programs etc
Then once you know you like what you have, make the system image and put away.
