Windows start-up problem

Hello Friends,

I own Windows Vista in my Laptop, I'm facing a problem which is not rectified from my end.

I'm not able login .
As soon as switched on, A screen appears for two options.
"Windows Repair "
"Start windows normally"

If I hit enter for "Windows Repair", It's doing a repair check in window screen
with a message " Windows repair will try to fix the problems automatically"
" This may take over an hour"

After sometime, a message flashes with Blue backround stating that
"Windows has detected a problem and windows is shut down to protect your computer"

Also "A software or hardware may not be installed properly"

Ultimatelt, I'm not able to enter into windows.

Please help !!!!

Do you have the install disc. Can you get access to a computer with a burner?
Repair disc may work or you could burn a live linux cd and boot with that to remove any files you want to keep and do a fresh install.

I can only access my laptop in safe mode.
Do I need to work in safe mode to fix the issue.?

If you create a recovery DVD, you may be able to boot to recovery options
Create Recovery DVD

The Vista recovery disk is used to boot Vista when it won't boot - to run Startup Repair, System Restore, access a Command Line, Recover using a Vista Backup Image, etc.
System Recovery Options

If Vista will not start now, boot the Recovery CD to run Startup Repair which automates System Restore as well as numerous other tests including System File Checker which can repair system files which are not corrupted beyond repair.

If Vista still will not start, try booting into Safe Mode to run sfc /scannow to repair System files.

Below is a bulletin distributed by MS to explain the start up procedure when Windows will not boot.

• Startup Repair. Startup Repair is a Windows recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as missing or damaged system files, that might prevent Windows from starting. Startup Repair is located on the System Recovery Options menu, which is on the Windows Vista installation disc. If your computer has preinstalled recovery options, it might also be stored on your computer's hard disk. For more information, see Startup Repair: frequently asked questions and What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista? If your computer does not include Startup Repair, your computer manufacturer might have customized or replaced the tool. Check the information that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.
• Change restart settings in safe mode. If your computer is stuck in a loop where Windows fails, attempts to restart, and then fails again repeatedly, restart your computer in safe mode and select the Disable automatic restart on system failure checkbox. For more information, see Advanced startup options (including safe mode).
• Reinstall. If no other options have solved the problem, and you are sure that your computer's hardware is functioning normally, you might need to reinstall Windows. A custom (clean) installation of Windows will permanently delete all of the files on your computer and reinstall Windows, so only use this option if all other recovery options have been unsuccessful. After the installation, you will need to reinstall your programs and restore your files from backup copies. For more information, see Installing and reinstalling Windows**.

I will try this . hope it solve my problem.
I think i need to follow the steps by logging in safe & networking mode.
becoz, this is the only available way to access my laptop.

It seems my laptop is having these recovery tools inbuilt.
Yesterday, I did the following,

I switched on the power button it asks for " xxxxxxx repair (recommended)"
and then after entering the repair (don't remember what was in place of xxxxxxx)

The five recovery options appears in a window,
I tried the first one "Startup Repair"
After some ten minutes, again system went shut down
once again when switched on, I was not able to see all the five recovery tools,
Instead, "Startup Repair" started of its own... and again ended up in auto shut down.

Likewise I had tried for 4 to 5 times, but no result.

Heres the story, you can return to what you had the day you took the computer home.
You will lose all of your pics, documents, updates, etc.

Did you try to boot the way Ilikefree suggested?

If you want to save stuff first let me know.

Follow instructions for Vista.
Dont forget, you will lose everything. Documents, updates, settings, everrything. If you have stuff you want to save post before triying anything.

Before going any further, in safe mode, can you get to system restore. If so go back before the problem happened, about a week.

Did you try to boot the way the Ilikefree suggested?

I just tried .. whatever I have explained in posts???
How to get the system restore??? Sorry if my question is silly.

Lets start from scratch

In safe mode try to get to system restore, go back at least 3 days before the problem
