Vista SP2 is out

Installed SP2 and havent noticed any difference except this:

Service Pack 1 reboot time
View attachment 13062

Service Pack 2 reboot time
View attachment 13063

After installing i defragged the page file, metadata, registry, and both partititions fully. So so far im not impressed :(
OMG! Stew please calm down. I m sure gradually, things will go smooth.

I am calm lol. I'l keep SP2 installed as they may eventually release updates that sort it out. I just thought id post my feedback and let people know that the claims of improved speed are nowhere to be seen :D

My Computer

I just went to Windows Update and it told me there was one optional update and that was Windows Essentials. Why did it not mention the SP2 Service Pack for Vista.

Also I don't know that I should Download the Sp2. I am afraid of messing things up and I don't have problems yet . So maybe I should leave well enough alone.

There is an update that's needed befotre installing SP@2. It is KB 955430 released in late April.

My Computer

ive installed sp2 on 2 out of 3 machines and so far no problems

Re: Vista SP2 is out |installed on 32 bit Ultimate OK

I downloaded and saved the file on my PC ran it from the desktop (after turning off NIS 2009 & Trojan Hunter v5,1 )

Took about 20 minutes or less total with three reboots and info on screen about installing each of three stages.

Got message after last reboot that it was installed and a system tray pop up that said some startup items needed to be re-enabled--for me IDT audio. Did this and msconfig opened, I enabled IDT as starup item. Had to restart a couple of it times before the IDT control panel would not open on startup or reboot.

Everything seems to be working great---no other driver problems noted---BUT startup time seems longer and the # of bars going across the screen have increased a lot upon boot or restart.

Opening IE7 seems a tad faster--but not sure. :geek:

I am VERY surprised to see this on Windows update already. I read somewhere it would be the end of June before we would see it there. I guess I will try it with WU. Wish me the best.

It puts a new option in the control panel "Bluetooth devices"

This is probably well known but looks kind of like the "devices and printers" in W7.

Exploring it now.

I don't think it is on WU---Try the links in the first post

It is on WU within Vista. I just installed it from there. I thought I read it would nhot be available until the end of June from WU. That's why I was surprised. It worked fine and now have a Vista 64 bit edition of Windows with SP2. Worked great!

Well my under 1 min boot time has gone, but now its quicker to connect to my network at least

I installed the iso rtm when it first came out and my boot went from 3 bars to 4 bars and still the same after 2 weeks so I will uninstall that copy and try this one .

To clarify for those who didn't read the article: it's on Windows Update (and if it's not for you, be patient or just download it manually). It is not set to automatically roll out though, that's set for the end of June.

My Computer

Hi guys, first post and just wanted to say thanks for the links.

I have Vista Home Premium x64 SP1, just before downloading SP2 I ran Windows Update and installed the one update available, then downloaded SP2, turned off AVG, and installed SP2.

Flawless install, no problems whatsoever here, everything went smoothly.

Once again, thanks for the links :)

It's on Windows Update.

However I can't install it, not without doing a complete non-V-Lite OS reinstall :(

Guess I'll wait till I either upgrade my system or see if someone finds a workaround for the V-Lite issue. Either way it'll be about a week or two.
