Anyone have any idea how to restore the original values that were changed by this registry hack? I swapped out burners and the new one is still reporting as SCSI, where I would expect it to display as SATA......

Running 32 bit on laptop for over 2 years with no problems. Installing 4 gigs into white box desktop and installing vista 64 bit home premium oem. Wish me luck.
Also have ubuntu 8.04 on both systems. Works great but no printer driver's for Lexmark with linux.

Hi, CBeck, an welcome to the forums. Have you tried simply re-installing the drivers? As that seemed to cause the problems in the first place, I would assume that the driver installation is adding those keys / setting those keys to those values, thereby causing the problem....

Hi, bagtas03, and welcome to the forums.

We'll need more info than that - what programs you've tried to burn with, if it can read normal CDs, DVDs, etc.

Plus, you *do* realize this is a Vista forum?

but i'm desperate to find the solution for my prob... i used nero 7...

my dvd ram drive's label on "my computer" is simply "cd-rom drive"

and in its properties it says its just a dvd/cd rom device...

is that enough?please help me....

dvd ram drive is: ASUS DRW2014L1T
burning software used: total video converter(registered), nero 7(updated this week)
problem: i cant burn, it cannot read the blank dvd's i put in it, there is supposedly a "burn files into disc" on the left side of the explorer whenever i open the drive.
but mine does not have one.
in the properties menu, the capacity of the blank dvd-r is 0, and in the hardware tab it says it is just a "dvd/cd rom device"

Have you installed drivers for the burner in XP?

actually, i repaired my os right now, to see what's going to happen, im reinstalling nero now.
the "write files into cd" on the right side reappeared, im going to check if its going to work, and if the dvd burner will work... wish me luck!hehe..

I have problem with my home computer equiped w/ asus drw-1814BLT (18x Lightscribe version) on vista (updated to sp1), 1814BLT couldn't read my DVD-R multisession.
I create 1st session (on office with NERO8 & SAMSUNG DVD-DW), this 1st session was readable with vista (on home) but when I add 2nd session, the DVD become unreadable, even after I closed the session, update to DVD firmware (1.14) did not help anything.
ASUS DVD have compatibility problem ?
Is anyone experience the same problem?
but anyway I'll try the suggested workaround....
