Good God people! Truth is, games ARE written for Nvidia cards and their software however, ATI has more raw process power for the $$$. This whole argument is as silly as PC Vs MAC it really comes down to usage. For the average gamer that demands it works and works now, Nvidia is easier. The more tech-savy you are the more you are willing to go outside your comfort zone. For CPUs I prefer AMD, but vista had seriouse issues with AMD at the begining, had i gone intell which is more common thus having more support I would not have had issues. Most people find Nvidia safer.

I think it depends on what sort of experience you have had with a particular card, i had Nvidia for years, but for the last 10/12 months had nothing but grief, 2 x BFG 8800 Ultra's in SLI, i got so fed up i tried 2 x ASUS EAH 4870 X 2 cards, i now have a system that works great, if asked now i would say ATI, but before this i would have said Nvidia, so, it's pot luck, you can go on about this one does this or this one does that, but it's a coin flip as to which one is better, i don't think there is anything to chose between them, it's all PR and advertising BS.
Thats my 2 bobs worth. :p
As for Windows v Mac, i think that..........
:p HE HE, NO CHANCE. WE WILL BE HERE FOR EVER. Anyway, everybody knows Mac is better. ;)

I'm just too cheap for mac. Plus I've got addicted to building PCs. Also my claim of Nvidia as a safer choice was based on the support one can find more easily as they are more popular. But yes this will always be a personal choice until one goes under or comes up with a massive leap forward that leaves the other behind. Unfortunately this means more gimmicks and pr spinning but I have heard about experiments in atom-level processing so.............. eh

ah, but the truth is that hobbies keep a man alive! Truthfully, several medical and wellness journals post the life extending properties of obsessing over something or other in one's free time. personaly, I'd like to start building rigs for people as a subsidy to my income and to give me something to do.

So maybe Nvidia IS better. Could that explain why Apple use Nvidia cards on their Macs?

(And remember, Macs are always better :p)

This doesn't even begin to compete with the GTX280 for Macs.

Both ATI and Nvidia have strong points. For ATI, price and for Nvidia, driver and game support.

I suppose we should change this thread into a REAL discussion thread about whether Nvidia is better or ATI is better. But we can't be too general right? Maybe we should go specific, and discuss about which is better for specific systems.
