My new Gaming Rig...

Since it's "your" thread I say ask away. :)

I guess you are right ;)

Anyways, here it goes.

I have an 22" Acer AL2216W LCD monitor as my Primary monitor

I also have a 36" Flat CRT TV capable of 480i (if that much) that I used to be able to use for watching streaming video (like motorcycle races and such).

I ran Component cables (Color Stream YPbPr Red/Blue/Green) from my Video Card's HDTV Port direct to my TV... this was all done with Nvidia Control Panel and XP.

Ever since I have gone to Vista, I have been unable to use this method no matter what I try. I do get to see my background picture of my main monitor on my TV sans the Icons but that is a far as I can go with it. Even if I open an application on my LCD, the TV only shows the background and nothing else.

I am sure there is an easy explanation for this but, I can only go so far with it because it is something that I rarely used when I had XP and once I got it working, I didn't dare touch it or make any kind of updates or changes for fear of messing it up :D

What mode you have the displays in? ie clone, extended, dualview ?

It's been a while since I've dual screened with nvidia, but iirc it needs to be in dualview to be able to independently configure each screen. It sounds like it's in extended.

Once it's in dualview, the CRT should now be the secondary and you should be able to change the CRT properties to 480i output.

Ahhhhhhh, therein lies the problem. In XP I used to have those options when I went to the NCP but in Vista, the options are just not there and AFAIK, I have the lastes control panel installed.

Yet another pet peeve I am having with Vista. :(

The only real reason why I don't tossed Vista like a 2 dollar hoe is because Games seem to play a lot smoother and since it is 90% of why I built my rig the way it is now. Besides, going back to XP tells me that I would have to tossed out 6GB of RAM and I don't want to do that.

I may have to spruce another hard drive and install Windows 7 to see if I can deal with that OS much better than I am dealing with Vista Ultimate x64.
