BSOD Causing LOTS of Problems!

I'm not trying to frustrate you, just asking questions. The reason I brought it up is because I booted from a System Mechanic Pro boot disc the other day and did get a message that there were disc errors. I didn't run the repair because if it wasn't the cause I didn't want to crash my hd completely until I had a chance to back everything up.

I trust you Richard, if you think there's something else at the root of the problem, then I'm on it, lead the way and I'll do as you ask.

I am not getting frustrated at you, quite the contrary. Im frustrated at the situation. This should have been an easy driver update. But its turning into a most difficult situation. Actually, if you have any thoughs, share it. I want you to take the HD test. One less thing to worry about.
The last step will be to replace the card.

Is it possibly a software issue causing the problem, a corrupt file left over from the virus I had?

You're right, you did tell me, I missed it in all the stuff you posted, running it the second time now. Do you want me to post the CBS log files when done?

Well, I ran it twice, fixed SOMETHING the first time, the second it didn't pick up anything. Seems it's too big a file to attach though.

Ok, step one, here's the CBS file, with just the data you wanted, it still seems a bit long to me so maybe I didn't edit enough. I'm going to start following the steps listed in the link you posted above while you check out the CBS file.

Run the SFC again, see if it still comes up with problems. It has made many repairs.

I'm getting the BSOD at shutdown and reboot now. I think I'm going to drop it off at the repair shop and let them deal with it. I'm leaving for a camp job in 2 1/2 weeks and I'll be gone 2 months. I just don't have the time to deal with it. I appreciate your help and all that you've done. I'll let you know how things turned out and what they found when I get it back.

You must do whats best for you, sorry that we could not get to the bottom of it. Let me know what they find, if they just dont reinstall.

I'm going to inform them I want a proper repair, not an easy reinstall job, I could do that, but then there's all the work of reinstalling programs and settings, etc. Not my idea of a good time!

To be honest, I dont think that they will fix bsod if software, they will if hardware

In case they want to reinstall or make a blunder,be sure everything is backed up and its in your possession

Ok Rich OLD BUDDY (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), back to you, as expected, the "techies" wanted to back everything up, do a system restore and check the motherboard, I, of course, said "No, let me do a little more research first." and promptly reclaimed my computer and came to the guys I've come to know and trust.... YOU!

What's next??

Missed you buddy, but good that you stayed away. It made me read the thread again and think about the meaning
The computer BSODs at shut down
It happened while you were in clean mode, but not safe mode
Code 9F (driver)

Starting with a clear mind, the awswer is that you
back everything up, do a system restore and check the motherboard,

LOL just kidding

The answer has to be a driver or hardware.

This may work with task manager when ready to shut down

How to Use Task Manager to Identify the Cause of the Shutdown Behavior

Use Task Manager to determine the programs that are currently running on the computer. For each program that is listed in Task Manager, manually quit the program, and then shut down and restart the computer to test if the shutdown problem is resolved. To do this, follow the procedure that is described in this section.

NOTE: All programs that are currently running on the computer may not be listed in the Applications tab of Task Manager.
  1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
  2. Click the Applications tab.
  3. In the Task column, click the program that you want to quit, and then click End Task.
  4. Quit Task Manager.
  5. Shut down the computer.
Continue to do this procedure until you are sure that the problem is due to one of those applications. If it does not happen, then we have to find out which one is the cause.

Ok, before I start all this, I'm thinking I should create a mirror of my C and D drives, as they contain everything I do NOT want to have to reinstall. Anysuggestions as to the best way, my Start Up and Recovery application isn't cooperating and neither is Nero Back-it Up
